I`m a bit old to jump onto a skateboard and perform ollies or whatever the heck skateboarders do. However, I`m not too old to realise the importance of providing a safe place for skaters and boarders to practice their tricks on. In fact, I`ve got two nephews who are well into skateboarding and they`d love it if they had skate parks close to where they lived. People tend to frown when they see boarders on the pavements but let`s face it where else can they go to have fun if skate parks aren`t provided for them? That`s why I`d fully support one of the skate parks if one was to be built in my local park. I can remember my local park being a refuge for me as a kid and I`d spend many happy hours playing in it with my mates. If skate parks are installed it provides a safe place for skaters, boarders and BMX riders to practice their many techniques. Let`s give the kids what they want and build more skate parks around the country because it certainly stops them from congregating on street corners. My goodness, I`m not old by any means but it sounds like I`m turning into my dad a lot sooner than I could ever have imagined.
